About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Facilities Technician to join our Operations team on a permanent, full-time basis. 

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional after hours/evening work as required. This is a fully on-site position. Candidates must be available to work in person at Casey House during all scheduled work hours. 

Reports to: Director, Operations

Salary range: $62500 - $72500 annum

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Facilities Technician safeguards Casey House’s physical environment and supports uninterrupted services. As part of the maintenance team, they will assist in maintaining a safe, functional, and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors by performing routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment checks, escalating critical issues as required.  

More specifically, your responsibilities in this role include, but are not restricted to:

  • Perform general building operations maintenance, including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC tasks. 

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities. 

  • Diagnose and organize the repair, maintenance, and certification of clinical equipment. 

  • Maintenance of fire systems, including regular testing of alarms.  

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies (e.g., leaks, power outages, door/window repairs). 

  • Manage maintenance ticketing system, including organization of tasks, scheduling of preventative maintenance, organization of asset library, and managing users. 

  • Assist with setup and breakdown for hospital events, moves, or renovations. 

  • Maintain access control and security systems. 

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety in mechanical rooms, storage areas, and work sites. 

  • Follow hospital safety protocols, including infection control and hazardous material handling. 

  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing staff and patient concerns professionally. 

  • Assist vendors and contractors as needed. 

  • Support groundskeeping and custodial tasks as required. 

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.) and/or general maintenance. Prior healthcare facility experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to keep supplies and tools in good order.
  • Strong time management skills, able to triage and schedule tasks.
  • Excellent customer service skills and mindset.  
  • Excellent communication skills, including email and messaging etiquette.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with diverse people and communities in an inclusive and equitable manner.
  • Proficiency with computers, include Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams).  
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Able to work flexible work hours to accommodate the needs of the hospital and availability of contractors (disruptive work, weekend/evening work, etc.).
