About the Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for One (1), Human Resources Summer Student  to join our team in Toronto, ON, as a Summer Student on a  full-time, contract basis (8 weeks)

Hours: 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday (with periodic work on evenings and weekends). This is a fully on-site position. 

Wage: $17.20 per hour (plus pay in lieu for Vacation)

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, the HR Summer Student will work closely with the People & Culture team, contribute to meaningful projects, and learn about the dynamic field of human resources within our organization. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in various HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations and engagement, learning and development, and administrative support. You’ll gain practical experience in fostering a positive organizational culture while helping to ensure an exceptional and inclusive employee experience. 

Responsibilities in this role will entail, but are not limited to:

Recruitment Support:

  • Assist in job posting creation and distribution across various platforms.
  • Screen resumes and support initial candidate evaluations.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and logistics.

Employee Relations:

  • Aid in maintaining employee records and databases.
  • Assist in organizing and executing employee engagement initiatives.
  • Support in addressing and handling basic HR-related matters and employee inquiries. 

Learning and Development:

  • Assist in organizing training sessions and workshops.
  • Track training participation and evaluate program effectiveness.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative support to the People & Culture team.
  • Assist in organizing HR-related documentation and files.
  • Help with data entry, filing, and organizing HR records.

About You 

The following qualifications will ensure your success in this role:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude with a genuine interest in learning and contributing to HR and People & Culture initiatives.
